About
Percussionist. Music historian.
"I exited the womb in 1958 with cerebral palsy, dyslexia and an affinity for Ray Charles. I never finished high school, not my scene. My experiences in the classroom could be compared with happenings in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,' so at a young age I said 'no' to school and 'yes' to John Coltrane and Miles Davis... You don't choose music; it chooses you. It makes me feel special, like an adopted child. Music and musicians raised me, and Detroit provided the cradle and the playground where so many loves, musical and human, took root in me."
